Hello friends! Have you ever bought a product that you were so hopeful for, but then when you used it, it didn’t impress you? Clearly by the title of this post, that has happened to me! Today I’m going to talk about 10 disappointing makeup products that just didn’t work for mr. For someone who purchases a lot of makeup, it’s bound to happen eventually. While I usually like to talk positively about products, that’s not going to stop me from telling it like it is.

If you’d rather watch a video about this, here’s my youtube video!

Or you can sit back, relax, and keep reading!

1. Too Faced White Peach Palette

If you read one of my last blog posts, then you already know that I wasn’t a huge fan of this palette. The matte shades are very powdery and have a lot of kickback. Overall, a lot of the shadows look very similar, and it really just didn’t inspire me

2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Palette

This was actually my first ABH palette, and I unfortunately wasn’t that impressed. The first time I opened it and started swatching, I had issues with getting pigmentation from a decent amount of the shadows. The mattes are powdery, and overall just not what I expected from a $55 palette.

3. Covergirl Trublend Matte Made Foundation

So I’ve already devoted a post to how disappointing this product was for me. You can read it here. Long story short, it oxidized SO MUCH. The Covergirl Healthy Elixir foundation did the exact same thing. It’s safe to say me and Covergirl foundations just don’t mix well.

4. Maybelline Super Stay Foundation

I really wanted to like this foundation, but I just can’t. The Maybelline stay matte is one of my favourite foundations, so I figured this one would be very similar. Clearly I thought wrong. When this is freshly applied, it looks pretty good. But after wearing it, it started to break up and look terrible. My face was splotchy, and it looked like the foundation was pretty much falling off my face. Not a good look.

5. Maybelline Precise Liquid Eyeliner

I’ve tried so many liquid eyeliners, and this one just didn’t make the cut. For one, it ran out very quickly. Secondly, it didn’t give me the precise line that I was looking for. I want a nice clean line for my wing, and this didn’t give it to me. Last thing is that when I would go over what I had previously drawn on to darken it or clean it up, it would remove what I had previously done. Which in my opinion is very weird and also very annoying. Oh well, guess I’ll just stick to my L’oreal felt tip eyeliner.

6. Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2 in 1

So I actually don’t have any issues with this product, when it works. Note the phrase “when it works”. I’ve bought a bunch of these eyeliners, and from multiple different stores. Unfortunately, I’ve had at least 3 or 4 of them just not work. Which is super annoying, especially since this isn’t cheap for a drugstore brand. They appeared dried out, and I was unable to create a good clean line with them. Overall, a good product, but one I just can’t trust anymore.

7. Physicians Formula Sexy Booster Volume Mascara

Okay so I swear I actually do like some products from PF (their Butter Bronzer is GREAT). But their mascaras are again not a product that I like. This one in particular never dried down, and felt kind of waxy on my lashes. It didn’t add any volume or length, and it smudged under my eyes… because it wouldn’t dry down. I’ve tried some of their other mascaras, and the same thing happened.

8. Bellapierre Volumising Mascara

I’d just like to say that I’m SO GLAD that I didn’t actually pay anything for this mascara (I received it in my boxycharm… which I did pay for, but you get what I mean). This mascara pretty much just tinted my lashes black. No volume, no length, no anything! I’ve used this once, and probably never again.

9. The Balm Put a Lid On It Eyelid Primer

While this made my eyelids nice and smooth, it unfortunately did not do it’s job. It has almost an oily texture to it, which did not mix well with my oily eyelids. My eyeshadow looked okay layered on top, it did not keep it looking good all day. My eyeshadow creased within a few hours, which is never a good look for anyone. Two thumbs down from me.

10. Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipsticks (old formula)

Disclaimer, this is based off of the old formula of her lipsticks, and I have not had the opportunity to try out the new formula yet. For some reason, even after buying one of these lipsticks and it not working out, I proceeded to buy three more. I wanted to love these because I bought some pretty awesome colours, but they look terrible on my lips. They emphasized every crease that I had, and I don’t have particularly dry lips. It was almost impossible to make it not look patchy, and it was especially hard with the darker shades.

Writing this made it seem like such a long list, but to be honest I could totally name some other products that should have ended up on this list. Disappointing makeup is bound to happen, and I’ve been lucky enough to not waste my money on too much of it. I try and focus more so on the products that I liked rather than those that I didn’t, but I’m always going to be honest about a products regardless how I got it. (Note: All these products I purchased for myself, or received in a subscription box)

Have you had any disappointing makeup products? If so, leave them down below in a comment! We’ve all been there, so share what did and what didn’t work for you!  🙂

Until next time,

Britt
